Signeo’s SN-A250 flash-based MP3 player

‘Tis indeed an attractive MP3 player. This compact USB 2.0 player features a tightly integrated OLED display, FM tuner, between 256MB and 1GB of storage, and up to 18 hours of MP3, WMA, and WAV playback off battery. Connect your CD or, because this is Japan, your MD player to the line-in and the SN-A250 also acts as a computer-free MP3 recording device. This 32 × 68.5 × 12.6-millimeters and 31g player goes on sale in Japan this weekend for up to 19,800 Yen (the 1GB model).
Now if it was a little bit slimmer, had a color screen, and a nicer logo, it’d be a hit.
Dell XPS 600 Renegade

If you’re interested in getting one of the most powerfull gaming towers out there, you’ll have to consider the XPS 600. Yes it is $10,000, however look at the specs. It’s got NVIDIA Quad-SLI graphics and an overclocked Pentium 965 Extreme Edition running at 4.26 GHz. Dell is also throwing in their 30-inch 3007WFP display to boot.
I’m not a fan of Dell, far from it, but you have to acknowledge raw power when you see it.
Samsung Q35 - “world’s smallest” Core Duo laptop

What do you do when you’re a little late to the party, and still want to make sure you catch a bit of buzz? If you’re Samsung, you don’t just announce that your Q35 is a Core Duo laptop; after all, other companies have been announcing their Core Duo rigs for months. You declare it the “world’s smallest” Core Duo box, and trumpet the fact that it weighs about 4 pounds, has a 12-inch widescreen display, and still manages to pack in a T2700 processor, 512MB of RAM and an 80GB hard drive. There’s also a DVD burner, WiFi, Bluetooth, Ethernet and Firewire. And, of course, since Samsung laptops aren’t sold in the US, we assume that within a few days we’ll hear an announcement from someone else for the “world’s smallest Core Duo laptop that you can actually buy.”

I/O Brush
Here’s an interesting concept by some students at MIT. I doubt it’s actually a working prototype. It seems to be just a very impressive video. I also am unsure of what art you would actually be able to draw or put together, however the concept behind it is indeed impressive.

Nainworks’ “Ubiquitous Multimedia Informator” PMP

Just when you think we’re done with all this CeBIT nonsense, we discover another marginally interesting device to fill up your RSS feed with. This time it’s the new “Ubiquitous Multimedia Informator” from Nainworks. We’re not making this up, people. It looks to be a fairly full featured DMB capable PMP, with all sorts of codec support, TV-out, 5 hour battery life, and a 20GB hard drive. The screen seems to cover most of the face at 4-inches, and the 480×272 resolution ain’t too shabby. The DMB receiver isn’t built in, so while the UMI is a tad streamlined due to this fact, you’ll have to hook up an external antenna to catch TV on the go. All in all, not a bad looking player for Korea, though we’re mainly just excited by the ad copy: “We sungiss which we do the environment setting up of English Hangul of language setting up and back of the ubdengitue UMI.” MobileMag
2,5 inch hard-disks get a boost

Nothing gets our hearts racing like advancements in storage technology, so we’re pretty giddy that the current 80GB-per-platter ceiling on 2.5-inch hard drives may soon get a boost, with 200GB drives possibly available before the end of the year. Japan’s ALPS Technologies has claimed that it will present a new type of thin-film recording head at a private trade conference this May — called TuMR — that will enable perpendicular hard disc drive recording at an unparalleled 170 GB/in2 , compared to the paltry 132 GB/in2 that Seagate is able to muster today. Hitachi had previously announced a technology capable of 230 GB/in2 , but so far hasn’t produced the goods, so ALPS (and also Western Digital, it would seem, for whom they supply parts) has a golden opportunity to step up and take the coveted density crown.
WIDGX does the Xacti HD1

Motorola PEBL goes Fruity

I for one am a person that appreciates variation. It’s often that I see people complain when a company releases yet more colour variations. In East Asia and the Middle East, colour variations are very common, and to be honest look at these PEBL’s, it kind of makes me feel like ‘these’ should be the iPod phones. One in glossy white and could look great. (Now they just need to improve the UI)
Bunch of PSP Add-Ons and a US Price-cut

Looks like those GPS add-on rumors were true. Now that Ken Kutaragi’s PlayStation business briefing has ended we can tell ya that a new GPS receiver (PSP-290) with game support will indeed drop this “autumn” with a new GPS-enabled Hot Shot Golf title loaded-up for first release. Sony also let fly a new USB-attached PSP-300 EyeToy camera add-on for September launch which will support a new video and VoIP chat service coming in October. Also of note is the announcement of a new digital distribution system (Hub?) allowing users to download “games and applications” directly to Memory Stick – an early use will be for downloading and playing PSone games (via new emulator) directly off your memory cards, although specifics around that service have yet to be announced. Rounding things out are the announcements that a future firmware release will bring Macromedia Flash compatibility and a new RSS Channel function to save and playback internet radio and video content. All this and the PSP base-unit price will be cut to $199 by the end of the month
