“World’s Largest HDTV” at Tokyo racetrack

Apparently bigger is always better when it comes to TV’s, especially when we are talking giant HDTVs, and the leapfrog game to have the largest — even for just a few months — continues as Mitsubishi has constructed a baffling 8,066 square-foot display at Tokyo Racecourse in Japan. By far the biggest Diamond Vision unit ever built, it trumps their own creation at Turner Field in Atlanta by spanning 218 feet wide by 37 feet high and allowing for 3 races to be shown at once. The two previous title-holders were Miami’s Dolphin Stadium at 137 x 50 feet and Texas’ Longhorn Stadium at 134 x 55 feet. Controversy over the true king will surely arise due to Tokyo’s set only rising 37 feet in height and rocking an unorthodox 5.89 aspect ratio, but it does indeed sport Hi-Vision (1080), making it a legitmate HDTV. Personally, we’d be able to get more use from a couple plasmas, but if you’ve got the space acreage, there probably isn’t a better way to spend $28 million. (Well you know appart from saving the starving etc, etc, …)
Researchers using waves to write on water

Liquid-based displays are nothing new — in a vertical orientation, at least — but apparently it’s a lot more difficult to coax a standing pool of water into forming recognizable shapes and characters. In fact, before coming up with their current design, researchers at Japan’s Akishima Laboratories were only able to get poorly-formed letters to pop up once every 15 minutes in their first stab at using waves to “print” on the surface of a specially-built pool. Their second attempt, however — developed with Professor Shigeru Naito of Osaka University — addresses both major flaws by using formulas known as Bessel functions to cut the processing time down to between 15 and 30 seconds and form characters with straight lines. Bluetooth Mighty Mouse already available

Well after what seems like years of waiting - the wireless mighty mouse is now here. That’s right, if you’re looking to cut the cord and add some sweet laser-guided precision to your first-gen Mighty Mouse, you can pick up one of these models immediately - as long as you don’t mind forking out £50! Yes that is fifty of your hard earnt pounds - we kid you not. Although this mouse will operate with either two or just one AA batteries — you know, for those times when you’re looking to shave every conceivable gram off of your travel weight. As much as we love Apple products, the Mighty Mouse has just never been all that comfortable to use; Bluetooth and laser-tracking are certainly nice additions, but until they make these things more ergonomic, we’re holding on to our Logitech gear.
White Pearl
Looks like the Black Diamond will be having a more affordable twin brother minus the diamonds called the White Pearl.Â
Well this is the news i’ve been dieing to hear,so here we have it folks a more affordable version of the beautiful Black diamond although it won’t be black.
The White Pearl will in every way be the same as the Black Diamond just no Titan and no diamonds and will come in a pearlacent white colour which i prefer more the black to be very honest, even though the black does looks good in its own way.
And specification wise it will be the same again,Quad band with Wi-Fi an Intel 400Mhz processor running windows mobile 5 a 262k TFT colour screen,Touch Sensitive 2″screen,it will also feature an internal memory of 128mb and will come with a 2Gb SD card for external storage and a 4 Megapixel camera.
Since the White Pearl will come without the luxury add ons the price will reflect that hence it will only cost: $1,500 (£815.00) now thats music to my ears.
The White Pearl will be available early 2007. Via: ESATO
Exclusive: Black Diamond Official

The Concept phone that was the Sony Ericsson Black Diamond is finally being made a reality and will be available. Back in march i wrote about a little known concept phone by designer Jaren Goh called the Sony Ericsson Black Diamond the design and look of the original concept was nothing but simply stunning, it created a frenzy of discussion and debate on esato forums aswell as other mobile news and tech sites.
Some said they did’nt like the design, others said its only a concept nothing more and should be left at that, but the vast majority fell in love with it including myself.I have been dreaming about this as my ideal Sony Ericsson design ever since i laid my eyes on it and prayed to the almighty that by some miracle this gets made.

Sony Launches DVDirect Recorders for PC-Free DVD Burning

While Blu-ray and HD-DVD seem to be getting all the attention, Sony is still serving its customers interested in recording video directly to DVDs. It’s added two additions to its DVDirect DVD recorder family, the VRD-MC3 which can store both video and digital photos, and the VRD-VC30 which works with video only. The neat trick here is that both can record video directly from Sony Handycam camcorders without the need for a computer. There are some surprisingly nice-looking units—check out the MC3 in the picture above with its 2.5-inch color LCD screen. (more…)
